2016 Track Season

The Steubenville Track team has had a very successful season up to this point.  It started with the girls taking 1st place in the Early bird Invitational with the boys finishing 4th.  Elise Watts and Lysiah Rice tied for high point award.  The next meet was the Martins Ferry Relays where the girls placed 1st and the boys were 5th out of 11 teams.  The next meet was the Bellaire Early bird in which the girls were 2ns to Wheeling Park and the boys placed 5th out of 12 teams.  The next meet was a Friday night meet called the Porterfield Invitational in St. Clairsville where the girls were 2nd out of 18 teams and the boys placed 11th.  Next was a quad at Buckeye Local where both the girls and boys placed 1st.  Then the Jefferson County Relays held at Steubenville where both girls and boys placed 1st.  Lysiah Rice was the high point award winner.  Back to Belmont county for a tri with Bellaire and Martins Ferry.  The girls were 1st and the boys were 3rd.  Next was the Dave Ice Invitational which it was girls only meet with 12 teams.  The girls edged out Wheeling for 1st place by 3pts.  The Brooke Relays had 14 teams and the girls were 1st and the boys were tied for 3rd.  The next meet was the John Glenn Invitational, which was held on a Friday night.  There were 24 teams participating and the girls placed 1st with Lysiah Rice winning high point award.  The boys were 15th.  Moving into the OVAC championships the girls were runners up in 5A to Wheeling Park.  Due to a thunderstorm the Catholic Central meet was canceled half way thru.  The OHSAA District meet the girls were champs edging out John Glenn by 3 points.  At the present time we are preparing for the OHSAA regional meet in which this will qualify our athletes to Columbus for the State Championships. The Girl’s Relay team finished as State Runner’s Up for the 2016 season.
