The Big Red Softball team finished its 2016 Campaign with a Sectional Final loss in Carrollton 5-4, this was a very hard loss for the Lady Red.  Finishing 10-12 on the year, while playing the toughest schedule in the school’s history, the girls representing Big Red and its following very well.  Sophomore Kameron DiMarzio (1^st Team All Valley, 1^st Team All OVAC, & 1^st Team All Eastern District) led the team offensively with a .437 batting average.  Junior Rhiannon Petrisko(1^st Team All Eastern District, 1^st Team All OVAC, & 2^nd Team All Valley), Junior Na’ Banks(2^nd Team All Eastern District, 2^nd Team All OVAC), and Junior Hayley Stamps(2^nd Team All Eastern District & 2^nd Team All OVAC) were all major contributors to the success of this year’s team.

The team had 3 seniors, Kennedy DiMarzio, Hanna Westlake, and Tenia Barker.  Tenia reached a major milestone for high school girls this season, she recorded her 100^th hit in a Big Red uniform.  Tenia will attend The University of Akron and is planning on playing softball for the Zip’s next year.  These 3 seniors leave Steubenville High School with a combined record of 60-43, this is the most wins by one 4 year group, as well as, the most wins in a single season (21-2014) and the 1^st OVAC Championship (2014).
